What is a dental implant ?

The dental implant is an artificial root onto which a crown is fixed to replace the lost tooth.

The implant system comprises:

  • The implant (the artificial root): in the form of a screw, it is manufactured in biocompatible material such as titanium or zircon.
  • The prosthetic abutment: titanium unit which takes the place of a stump on which the crown is fixed.
  • The abutment is the point of contact between the implant and the crown.
